NVC and EVMI on GenAI for food packaging business information
Have you already read about the imminent danger of milk bottle packaging for consumer health and the resulting inquiries by government enforcement agencies that might lead to a recall? Hopefully not, as it was an AI-generated business article presented (in Dutch, 1.67 MB) - and discussed! - on Thursday 16 May 2024 at the Food Tech Event in The Netherlands. Co-hosts of the debate were Janet Kooren (editor of food business journal EVMI) and NVC director Michael Nieuwesteeg.

Perfection in cosmetics packaging achieved?
On Thursday 23 May we were part of a unique workshop at the PCD Packaging Première Milan 2024 addressing the thorny topic of perfection in cosmetics packaging. How to align environmental requirements (like recyclability and the use of recyclate) with the – often subliminal – criteria that the industry is applying in the design to create attractive packaging in the luxury cosmetics market? NVC meets members and scouts trends at Hispack2024
On 8 May we made a ‘blitz’ visit to the Barcelona Hispack2024 to spot packaging trends in the Iberian market and to meet our partner institute from Japan there (the Japanese Packaging Institute) to proceed together on the NVC project Sustainable Ageing in the run-up to Tokyo Pack 2026. US Government attends NVC USA-EU workshop on packaging and environment
Both the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have confirmed their active participation in the upcoming USA-EU Joint Business workshop on Packaging and Environment that will take place in Cambridge Ma. USA on Thursday 6 June 2024. Notably, the USDA will present an overview of the environmental regulations in the US and Canada, while also joining the ensuing debate where we try to define the synergies with the new EU PPWR that was approved on 24 April 2024. On Thursday 13 June 2024 in the afternoon, we will be taking a closer look at the proposed EU PPWR during an NVC members-only meeting. You are welcome to join.

Exam results NVC Packaging Professional soon in, ready to party!
The NVC Packaging Professional exam took place again on 26 April 2024. Soon the business students from our NVC Course Programme in Packaging (CPP) who have successfully completed their exam will be invited for the festive Diploma Ceremony that will take place in the Gouda City Hall on Tuesday 25 June 2024.
Prior to the ceremony, we will organise the annual NVC Mini-conference on the future of work and business education in packaging. During the Live Hybrid conference, the results of the NVC Survey investigating Life Long learning in the industry will be presented. So far, more than 150 respondents have shared a wealth of insights on how the packaging sector is trying to keep skills and knowledge at the levels required to ensure a truly sustainable business future. The Survey closes on 1 June 2024 so please feel free to share your insights with us.
