Discover crowdfunding for packaging innovation

On October 1^st, 2015 a groundbreaking meeting will take place, discovering the potential of crowdfunding and other new financing methods for the acceleration of innovation in packaging. The meeting will also host the kick-off of the 28^th edition of the world’s most competitive packaging innovation contest: De Gouden Noot. Location of the meeting is the Royal Industrieele Groote Club in Amsterdam, at the famous Dam Square (see photo).

Demand for packaged products is forecasted to increase due to the growth of the world population, urbanisation, ageing, trends such as e-commerce and changes in life style. New materials, the internet and the requirement for responsibly produced and recycled packaging materials create the need for truly significant packaging innovations.

Financing of these packaging innovations up to now has been difficult due to the complex fabric of the many industry sectors involved, in conjunction with the technological and societal interfaces that have to be taken into account. Crowdfunding and other new financing methods are bringing solutions here, as the barriers to entry for packaging innovators are lowered dramatically and as the elements of knowledge needed to create joint success are combined more easily and are thereby applied more effectively.

Chairman NVC Netherlands Packaging Centre Mrs. Christel Geerts will hand over the De Gouden Noot 2016 trophy with the solid golden walnut inside to chairman of the jury prof. Onno Omta celebrating the kick-off of the 28^th edition of the world’s most competitive packaging innovation contest.
