Vocabulary for nanotechnology

There is a need to provide industry and research with standardized vocabulary and nomenclature to aid the responsible development and application of nanotechnology. Recently two Technical Specifications from the TS 80004 series for this vocabulary were published.
NVN-CEN ISO/TS 80004-2:2017 gives the vocabulary for nano-objects. It encompasses terms used concerning particles with nanoscale dimensions. NVN-CEN ISO/TS 80004-11:2017 lists terms and definitions, and specifies an extensible taxonomic terminology framework for nanolayers, nanocoatings, nanofilms, and related terms in the field of nanotechnologies (World Packaging Standardisation Newsletter, October 2017).
