Global market for cups and lids

According to a new report by Freedonia, world demand for cups and lids will increase more than 5% per year through 2019. Foodservice and food processing account for more than 90% of overall demand. North America dominates the market due to the diverse uses of disposables in the region. In foodservice, demand will be driven primarily by the quick serve restaurant segment.
Going forward overall growth for cups and lids will be fastest in developing markets such as China, India, Indonesia, Russia, and Brazil. In these countries, Western-style chain restaurants are expanding, and these restaurants tend to be more frequent users of disposable cups and lids.
