Do Terumo injection needles pose health risks for patients?

The AVROTROS television programme EenVandaag stirred up the issue that there would be possible residues of glue in injection needles. This would be the result of the use of epoxy glue to fix the metal needle onto the plastic hub of the needle. Terumo denies the existence of health risks posed by the use of their needles in a press release on the same day and calls the representation of EenVandaag biased.
The Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the environment (RIVM) has advised to stop using Terumo needles for now, while the case is investigated by the Dutch Health Care Inspectorate (IGZ). Terumo has taken its injection needles off of the Dutch market.
