NL: PVC ban in supermarket packaging includes PVDC

One of the requirements stated in the Packaging Agreement is that packaging material containing PVC will not be used in the Dutch supermarkets, unless there is no alternative. The KIDV has now published the list for which there is no alternative: coating in metal packaging; liner for crown closures for one-way ‘twist-off’ bottles; film for sprouted vegetables et cetera and certain pharmaceutical packaging.
PVDC is not included in the list which means that the Dutch supermarkets do not want packaging containing PVDC. According to the KIDV there are alternatives like SIOx and AIOx – based films. To be clear: this does not mean a total ban on PVC/PVDC in packaging.
