NL survey: Information on label inadequate for consumer

26 November 2015

The completeness and reliability of product information is a point of special interest because of the composite character of many foods, differences in food regulations and the diversity and changeability of foods. Despite stringent European regulations, consumers only partly believe the information on the food labels and/or find the information insufficient. Less than one out of ten trusts the food labels unconditionally.
New applications (apps) will change this situation, according to the ING Economic Bureau in their Theme Outlook Food “A healthy future’. Digitalisation gives retailers and producers the opportunity to give consumers more information online.
