NL: Dutch consumer association joins the Deposit fee alliance
A survey that was held among the members of the Dutch consumer association (Consumentenbond) shows that a large majority supports expanding the deposit scheme to include small bottles (84%) and beverage cans (75%). Most respondents would like the fee to be between €0.10 and €0.25.
The Consumentenbond has therefore decided to join the Deposit fee alliance (Statiegeldalliantie), an initiative of Recycling Netwerk Benelux. Dozens of Flemish and Dutch organisations, association, municipalities and businesses are united in the Statiegeldalliantie. Together they plead for putting a deposit on all PET bottles and cans to prevent litter (News Item Consumentenbond, 9 January 2018).
