NL: 93% consumers know about ban on free plastic bags

The Dutch free plastic bag ban prohibits Dutch shops from handing out free plastic bags to consumers. Research done by Markteffect shows that more than nine out of ten Dutch citizens (93%) know about this new regulation.
When considering planned purchases (for example grocery shopping) a majority of the consumers is positive (53%) about this new regulation. A little over one in ten consumers (15%) is negative.
When considering unplanned purchases the percentage of Dutch citizens that is positive drops to 43%. At the same time, the amount of Dutch citizens with a negative opinion on the matter rises to almost a quarter (News Item Markteffect, 25 March 2016).
