Netherlands sends draft 2014 Packaging Management Decree to European Commission

The Netherlands has sent a Draft decree laying down rules for packaging and packaging waste (2014 Packaging Management Decree) to the European Commission. The standstill period ends on 13 October 2014.
Arrangements were made in the Framework about addressing the issues of packaging waste and litter for the years 2013 to 2022 (the Framework Agreement). Further arrangements have been laid down in the Addendum to the Framework Agreement on Packaging. It was agreed in the Framework Agreement that the arrangements should be laid down in legislation as far as possible in order to enable enforcement action. This is the rationale for the drafting of the new rules for packaging.
