Consuming less – Better dosing thanks to squeeze bottle
Researchers of the Ghent University (UGent) have studied the influence of squeeze bottles on consumer behaviour. In one study, researchers measured the average amount of butter that consumers use for baking. According to the results, consumers that use a butter dish consume 6.42 grams of butter, while consumers that use a squeeze bottle only consume 4.52 grams of butter, and therefore 30% less.
They did research on mayonnaise consumption in a follow-up study. These results show that consumers with a squeeze bottle use way less mayonnaise (8.38 grams) compared to participants that use a jar (13.08 grams), a difference of almost 37% (Press release UGent, 18 August 2017).
