According to research by Smithers Pira in The Future of Packaging: Long-Term Forecasts to 2028, the global packaging market is set to expand by almost 3% per annum, reaching over $1.2 trillion. Market for paper and paperboard
EU paper and board production was stable and market pulp production was up in 2018 compared to 2017, according to preliminary statistics (160 kB) published by CEPI. Total production in 2018 reached 92.2 million tonnes.

Buying food
FRUIT LOGISTICA has published a new trend report (3.06 MB) that scrutinises the role of fresh produce in the grocery retail business. It offers insights into how a number of factors are influencing consumer demand. Research at Ghent University (in Dutch) shows that consumers like products with organic labelling more than products without organic labelling. They also find them healthier. Development of packaging for dosing active ingredients - Master assignment
On 17 January Goffe-Jan Reinder Mellema held a speech entitled ‘The development of a packaging format for dosing active ingredients’ as part of his master assignment at University of Twente. Chairman of the assessment committee was professor Roland ten Klooster who holds the NVC Chair Packaging Design and Management.
