Lithuania: Draft resolution on deposit system sent to EC

Lithuania has sent a draft resolution to the European Commission concerning the management of packaging and packaging waste. The standstill period ends on 8 January 2018.
This resolution proposes obligating merchants to collect returned reusable packaging and disposable packaging waste, and refund deposits in all town and village shops with a retail area in excess of 50 m2. In all other settlements, the resolution proposes obligating merchants to collect returned reusable packaging and refund deposits in all shops with a total area in excess of 90 m2, as well as to collect disposable packaging waste and refund deposits in all shops with a retail area in excess of 300 m2.
