Croatia: Draft decree on reduction plastic bags sent to EC

Croatia has sent a draft decree to the European Commission concerning restrictions on the use of plastic carrier bags at points of sale. The standstill period ends on 13 September 2017.
As of 31 December 2018, the provision of free lightweight plastic carrier bags at points of sale of goods or products shall be prohibited. At places where very lightweight plastic carrier bags are provided free of charge, the seller shall post a visible notice for consumers concerning the sparing and rational use of these bags. The draft rules additionally bring into conformity the marking of packaging of products and regulate the marking of beverage packaging that is covered by the refundable fee scheme.
