Hiring intentions improved +33% year-over-year in the United States
ManpowerGroup has published their most recent Employment Outlook Survey, covering results from more than six thousand employers in the USA who were asked about their hiring intentions for the fourth quarter of 2022. The Net Employment Outlook is derived by taking the percentage of employers anticipating an increase in hiring activity and subtracting from this the percentage of employers expecting a decrease in hiring activity. The outcome, averaged over eleven industry sectors, was +33%. You can download the report after filling in your details.

Human Workplace Index: Employee Benefits for an Evolving Workplace
Why are so many employees still quitting their jobs? The Human Workplace Index (HWI) by Workhuman probes into the impact of the different benefits that may be associated with specific jobs. What aspects of their current benefits package do employees enjoy, and what aspects need to be improved? How can employers provide support outside of the standard employee benefits package? And most importantly, what needs to be done to ensure employees are feeling valued?

APA study: Robots in workplace contribute to burnout and job insecurity
Working alongside robots may contribute to job burnout and workplace incivility, but self-affirmation techniques could help alleviate fears about being replaced by these machines, according to research (712 kB) published by APA in the Journal of Applied Psychology. Researchers found that workers may feel job insecurity from robots, even in industries where robots aren’t being used, however those fears may not be justified. Self-affirmation exercises, where people are encouraged to think positively about themselves and their uniquely human characteristics, may help lessen workplace robot fears.

Education at a Glance 2022 by OECD provides wealth of insights on education
The OECD has published their Education at a Glance report (8.15 MB), comprising a wealth of data on the state of education around the world. It provides information on the structure, finances and performance of education systems across OECD countries and partner economies. More than 100 charts and tables in sync with much more data available online provide key information on the output of educational institutions, the impact of learning across countries and access, participation and progression in education.

Workers appreciate and seek mental health support in their (next) workplace
The Work and Well-being Survey published by APA recently, shows that seven in ten workers believe their employer is more concerned about the mental health of employees now than in the past. This new focus is highly valued by employees. In fact, more than 80% of individuals say they will be looking for workplaces that support mental health when they seek future job opportunities.
