Expert panel shares views on the future of work and education in packaging
An expert panel shared their views with the audience during the 6th annual NVC mini conference on the future of work and education in packaging on 28 June 2022. The panel consisted of Ton Tanke (Senior Manager Performance Improvement Packaging at Intersnack Group GmbH & Co. KG), Madeleine Harmsen (HR Manager at Trioworld Apeldoorn), Oscar Faber (manager NVC education and training) and Christophe Vossaert (chairman of the Exam Committee NVC Packaging Professional). Hope, fears and expectations in the global workforce analysed
Consultancy PwC surveyed over 52 thousand individuals who are in work or active in the labour market worldwide. Topics included the perceived job security, the freedom to express political views at the workplace, hybrid working and the continuous development of new skills. Labour market developments unbalanced, reports ILO
The 9th edition of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Monitor on the world of work (891 kB) gives a global overview of how countries are tackling an uneven labour market recovery, affected by the Russian aggression against Ukraine, rising inflation and continuing strict COVID-19 containment measures in China.
Supply chain profs (still) happy with their job
ACSM (166 kB) has released their 2022 Supply Chain Salary and Career Report. Surprisingly, the sector is only minimally impacted by the so-called ‘Great Resignation’; career satisfaction remained exceedingly high despite the continuous strain of supply chain disruptions. Work in the warehouse gets better
Zebra Technologies recently conducted a new global Warehousing Vision Study to explore the trends and sentiments driving operational decisions and spend in warehouses. The findings show that warehouse operators are making significant investments to better fulfil the needs of both customers and workers and make it easier to fill open jobs. Impact of technological change on employment surveyed
The Dutch government organisation on work issues UWV (in Dutch) conducted a survey (in Dutch, 392 kB) among over 3,000 employers from many business sectors, charting expectations of the impact that technological change will have on their workforce. 30% of employers expects new jobs to be created in the next 5 years due to digitalisation, automation and robotization.
Less stress protection, less work autonomy for workers, says 2021 study
Employers had less arrangements in place to protect employees from psychosocial stress in 2021. Also, in 2021 their employees had less autonomy in their work than in previous years. This is reported by TNO (in Dutch) in their Employers Survey Employment 2021 (in Dutch, 1.68 MB) which is conducted every 2 years among approximately 4,500 organisations in the Netherlands.
