EFSA discusses safety of non-plastic food contact materials
Scientific experts from Member States met in Parma from 12 to 14 November for the first meeting of EFSA’s Food Ingredients and Packaging Network. The experts gathered to discuss the latest risk assessment activities, approaches and challenges in the area of non-plastic food contact materials.
The meeting agenda covered ongoing activities at European level and approaches used at national level for risk assessment of non-plastic food contact materials such as coatings, printing inks, paper and boards and some metals. Future challenges expected by Member States in this area were also discussed, as well as possible subjects for scientific cooperation (EFSA News in Brief, 5 November 2014).
