Eco-Emballages 10-step plan for French circular economy

21 April 2017

Packaging compliance organization Eco-Emballages has published a document (proposal) recommending 10 steps to support a circular economy in France. Among the 10 steps are to require that by 2020 state and local purchasing authorities ensure at least 40% of their purchased items contain recycled materials, increasing to 100% by 2030, and to set a zero waste to landfill target for 2020.
Other steps are to promote local recycling efforts, develop taxation to promote the use of recycled materials and improve eco-design and to introduce incentive pricing that allows the application of the polluter-pays principle to users (Recycling Laws Update Bulletin, 12 April 2017).
