Dossier: difference between P 650 (ADR) and PI 650 (IATA)
Packaging Instruction 650, of ADR as well as IATA, sets certain requirements for the packagings that should be used for the transportation of biological substances, category B (UN 3373), whereas the ADR is for transportation by road, and IATA for transportation by air. This legal provision determines special requirements for these types of packagings, which therefore always need to be checked and certified.
There are many similarities between both Packaging Instructions, but there are also some important differences. The dossier attempts to clarify the main differences between these two Packaging Instructions (Belgian Packaging Institute, December 2015).
