Design smart material guides for packaging

The Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) has announced that its Design Smart Material Guides, previously available only to signatory companies, are now available for everyone. The APC decided, "this important resource should be available to all who may benefit from the information."
The guides provide ‘checklists’ of sustainability considerations to keep in mind when designing and/or specifying packaging based on particular materials. The subjects of the guides are aluminium, packaging components, composite packaging, compostable plastic packaging, fibre based packaging, flexible plastic, glass, rigid plastic and steel (Recycling Laws International, 14 February 2014).
