NVC-ISTA Topical meeting Transport Simulation Testing of Webretail Packaging (in Dutch)

Web retailing is growing more than 10% annually, with 15 million packages delivered daily now globally as consumers increasingly are buying physical products online. Daily 300,000 packages are delivered in the Netherlands. The rise of webretail can have large consequences for packaging products. It is important that the important players in the supply and recycle chain of packaged products - like retailers, service providers, manufacturers and packaging suppliers - become aware of the opportunities and threats.

One of these opportunities is the changing role of packaging at the moment of purchase and changing ways of transportation. The package no longer has to sell the product, but does have to be suitable for parcel delivery. The leading standards for testing of packaged product for parcel delivery service shipments are provided by the International Safe Transit Association (ISTA). The ISTA 3A standard for Packaged-Products for Parcel Delivery System Shipments contains a complete transport simulation test programme that is accepted by, among others, UPS.

Marten Ries, Senior test engineer at IPS Technology and ISTA Board member, informs you during this topical meeting about the transport circumstances that webretail packaging is submitted to and how the ISTA 3A standard helps to determine this.

The topical meeting finishes with a plenary discussion, giving you plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
