Same pill, different box, more side effects

Since the packaging of the medicine Thyrax has been changed from a glass jar to a blister, there are a lot more reports of side effects. How that is possible, is a mystery, because the composition of the drug has not been changed. Producer Aspen Pharma is researching the matter, as requested by Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board . The company hopes to be able to say more about the increase in side effects in a few months.
The Netherlands Pharmacovigilance Centre Lareb already reported last November they were receiving a “remarkable” amount of reports about side effects after the packaging of Thyrax was changed at the end of 2013 (ANP, 13 February 2015).
