Global market for high barrier pouches to 2020

Global high-barrier pouch packaging totalled approximately 49 billion units and consumed 319,000 tonnes of polymer materials in 2014. Consumption is forecast to grow during the period 2015–20 at a CAGR of 6.1% to 69 (2014 prices), according to a new study by Smithers Pira.
There is rapidly increasing demand for packaging materials that give even greater protection to their contents. As plastics have become more and more common, concerns have arisen about their ability to allow the exchange of gases and vapours that can compromise the quality and safety of products. The report examines the global market trends for the period 2009–14 and presents forecasts for the period from 2015 to 2020.
