US: new uniform compliance date Food Labeling Regulations
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today that 1 January 2018 will be the uniform compliance date for food labeling regulations that are issued in 2015 and 2016. The FDA periodically issues regulations requiring changes in the labeling of food and coordinates the effective dates of these labeling changes to reduce the economic impact to the food industry of having to respond separately to each change.
With a uniform compliance date, industry can plan for the use of existing label inventories and the development of new labeling materials. The uniform compliance date for food labeling laws issued in 2013 and 2014 is 1 January 2016 (FDA Constituent Update, 9 December 2014).
