USA: New report compares global food traceability regulations and requirements of 21 countries

08 September 2014

The research conducted by the Global Food Traceability Centre compares the traceability of 21 Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) countries. One of the main findings is that European Union countries ranked highest when it comes to global food traceability regulations and requirements.
The countries were ranked based on questions whether mandatory traceability regulations exist at national level or if labelling regulations allow consumers access to help their understanding of traceability, amongst others. EU countries ranked highest, followed by Australia, Canada, USA, Japan, Brazil and New Zealand. China was rated lowest (IFT news release, 19 August 2014).
