US National Nanotechnology Initiative publishes strategic plan
The National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) is a US federal government research and development initiative involving the nanotechnology-related activities of 20 departments and independent agencies. It is administered by the National Science and Technology Council Committee on Technology, which reports to the President.
Earlier this year, NNI prepared a draft strategic plan and opened a public consultation. The consultation closed on September 23, and NNI published the final 68-page strategic plan on October 31. The plan has four high level goals. The fourth goal is to support “responsible development” of nanotechnology (State Recycling Laws Update, 14 November 2016).
