The future of labels and release liners to 2021

In a new report, Smithers Pira forecasts the global consumption for labels and release liners to reach 64.1 billion tonnes by 2021. The recent growth in consumption is driven by increasing demand in emerging and transitional economies, the market will grow by 4.4% annually during the period 2016–21.
By the type of label used, pressure sensitive labels will see the strongest growth globally due to its diverse applications and innovations in the self-adhesive technologies. Even though, linerless labels are still in its initial growth phase, there is a tremendous growth opportunity for linerless label market and it is expected to pick up in the next ten years.
