Slovakia sends draft act to European Commission on waste and amendments to certain acts

Austria has sent a draft act to the European Commission on waste and amendments to certain acts. The standstill period ends on 1 December 2014.
The act lays down the methods for implementing the objectives of Directive 94/62/EC on packaging and packaging waste, as amended. The act defines the responsible entities, i.e. producers, and formulates their obligations. In this area, it creates a system for the return of packaging and the collection, recovery and recycling of packaging waste. The changes are related to the proposed winding up of the Recycling Fund, which means that its functions are being gradually replaced by creating new chains of responsibility.
