Public consultation on the preliminary opinion on Nanosilver: safety, health and environmental effects and role in antimicrobial resistance
The Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks, SCENIHR, has published its Opinion on Nanosilver: safety, health and environmental effects and role in antimicrobial resistance. Examples of consumer products that contain nanosilver include food packaging materials, textiles, electronics, cosmetics, medical devices, water disinfectants, and room sprays.
The European Commission has now launched a public consultation on the preliminary opinion on nanosilver. All interested parties are invited to submit their comments and proposals on the preliminary opinion to the Commission before 2 February 2014 (European Commission website, 12 December 2013).
