Thesis: A review of self-serve packaging for hand-held consumer electronics in Canada

12 December 2013

For the last 25 years, designers have been tackling the issue of consumer packaging waste and its environmental impacts on discard. Consumer electronics packaging is one such field, and is one of the most challenging of all the consumer packaging categories, as the demands of both environmental and marketing requirements consistently contradict each other.
For his thesis at Carleton University in Canada Akil Worrell investigated this disparity and proposes a list of design recommendations in which packaging attributes can be used to develop sustainable packaging practices and recommends ways in which designers and consumers can ensure the success of sustainable packaging practices.
