Obesity and food packaging: study and conference
The 14th annual USA State of Obesity: Better Policies for a Healthier America report from the Trust for America’s Health (TFAH) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) was published on 31 August 2017. According to the report, adult obesity rates in the USA are showing signs of leveling off.
Obesity (‘food waist’) is arguably related to food waste as the population consumes more than is needed. Food packaging may play an important role in the rise of and fight against food waste. Fighting food waste through better packaging will be addressed at the international conference Fighting food waste together: how to open the potential of better packaging on 22 March 2018 during the Anuga FoodTec.
