Developments in the job market: increasingly flexible workforce

A new report by the Dutch organisation for job analysis and placement UWV (‘Sectoren in beeld - Ontwikkelingen, kansen en uitdagingen op de arbeidsmarkt’) highlights the sectors where job growth is taking place and to which extent this results in permanent or flexible jobs.
The logistics services sector in particular shows growth due to the growth of e-commerce; however this is mostly done with flexible jobs. Industry does not create many jobs, however is seen to have a very moderate flexible shell of workers and a relatively large percentage of companies without any flexible work force (23% of the companies). However, signals exist that the need for flexibility in industry is increasing.
