NL Factsheet: Portion size matters
Producers can help create a healthier environment for consumers by giving more thought to portion sizes. The availability of healthy choices and the ease of use of these products should also be improved. These are some of the findings of the Dutch Food Centre (Voedingscentrum) published in a factsheet about the influence of the environment on behaviour.
People often presume that a single packaging contains the correct amount to consume, even though in reality it contains more portions. The half liter bottles of soft drink, for example, imply a single portion but in reality they contain 2 portions. Another example is 2 bars of chocolate packaged together (News Item EVMI, 15 April 2015).
