NL: Recycling results packaging waste 2012, goal for glass not met, plastic unclear

20 March 2014

On 4 March 2014 state secretary Mansveld of Infrastructure and Environment sent a letter to the Dutch House of Representatives presenting the recycling results for packaging waste in 2012. The results presented by Nedvang show that the recycling goals for wood, metal and paper and board have been met. The goal for glass (90%) was not realised with 71%. Research by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) found the basis of the figures to be lacking in some parts.
ILT also looked at the plastic waste and again cannot say with certainty whether the goals have been met or not. A number of aspects in the reporting need to be improved.
