NL: Reactions to news items about Lidl and Aldi possibly being bribed in deposit issue
On 25 September 2014 the government of the Netherlands published reactions to news items about Lidl and Aldi possibly being bribed in the deposit issue. The Packaging Waste Fund (Afvalfonds Verpakkingen StAV) sent a letter to the state secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment stating that it is not offering an allowance in exchange for abolishing the deposit system. What it is offering is compensation for the possible financial consequences that Lidl and Aldi might suffer if they decide to abolish the deposit system.
In two separate letters state secretary Mansveld answers the questions posed by the members of parliament Cegerek, and Van Gerven and Smaling.
