NL: Policy plan return system small PET-bottles and cans

Before the summer a number of discussions took place with the industry (companies that pack products), the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG) and the foundation Natuur & Milieu about a creative approach to collect small bottles and cans. These discussions gave cause to the creation of a broad coalition. This coalition has made a policy plan for pilots with innovative return incentive or reward systems. The plan was sent to the Dutch House (Tweede Kamer) on 14 October 2015.
On 1 January 2016 a start will be made with a trial project that will be upscaled throughout the country in 2016 and 2017 leading to a nationwide policy as of 1 January 2018, taking the results of the trials in account.
