NL: Action plan against misleading labels in spring 2016
Minister Schippers of Health, Welfare and Sport will put forward an action plan to deal with misleading labelling of food products in the spring of 2016. Schippers writes this as her answer to questions from the Dutch House of Representatives about misleading with food products by supermarkets.
The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) works case by case and bases its judgement on laws that are in force whether there is an offence. In the case of an offence the NVWA can issue warnings and fines. The responsible company has to make amends to the shortcoming, no matter which intervention is applied (Verpakkingsprofs, 22 February 2016).
