NL: Research deposits on small bottles and cans
End of August 2017, State Secretary Dijksma sent the report ‘Costs and effects of deposits on small bottles and cans’ to the Dutch House of Representatives. In the accompanying letter she discusses the content and conclusions. She also promises to inform the House of Representatives about the next steps in the packaging dossier by the end of 2017. The research, carried out by CE Delft, looked into the costs and benefits and the effects on litter, recycling and environment. Calculations of various scenarios were made in which the deposit (10 or 25 cents), types of collection points (only supermarkets or all points of sale) and types of packaging material (metal, plastic and glass) were varied.
