NL: Less contamination in domestic waste paper in 2015

There was 3.78% contamination in the Dutch domestic waste paper in 2015, 0.38% less than the 4.16% in 2014. In particular, there is a decrease in the amount of frozen food packaging and beverage cartons in the waste paper. This can be attributed to the separate collection of beverage cartons that grew fast in 2015. There was a total of 33 million kilo contamination in 884 kilotons of waste paper.
Most of the contamination is caused because people throw commercial folders wrapped in plastic, water resistant packaging, and plastic in the waste paper bin. In the fact sheet and report that were recently published by PRN you can read the main findings of the contamination research of 2015.
