NL: Storage life of self-care medicine often unknown

On 30 out of the 50 self-care medicines that were investigated by the Dutch consumer association (Consumentenbond) the required information about the storage life after opening was missing. Because of this, consumers risk using a cough syrup or anti-fungal cream that has gone bad.
European directives require producers to place information about the storage life after opening on their medicines; both on the product and its packaging, and on the patient information leaflet. The Consumentenbond investigated cough syrups, nose sprays and anti-fungal creams: medicines that are used multiple times after opening and have a high risk of going bad (Consumentenbond, 10 december 2015).
