NL: Discussion about dropping deposit system for PET bottles rekindled

07 May 2014

Tomra Systems asked CE Delft to review the Wageningen UR study published in 2012 on dropping the deposit for PET bottles. The review shows that the cost of collecting deposit bottles is 50% lower than the original report claimed.
In a reaction Wageningen UR rejected the criticism of their report. In a letter sent to the Tweede Kamer (the House of Representatives) on April 10, State Secretary of Infrastructure and Environment states that she has no opinion on the content of the reports. She was then asked to perform an independent study that looks at both studies. In a letter on April 25 she confirms that she will do this and will send the results to the House before June 18.
