Measuring the level of integration in a sustainable supply chain

19 September 2014

Researchers at the Poznan School of Logistics in Poland developed a system for measuring the level of integration of a sustainable supply chain, involving both forward and backward flows.
The researchers use 19 integration categories, one of which is packaging unification. Packaging unification is intended to bring to a minimum any operations involving packages, in particular at the stage of warehouse receipt and issuing. Standardising packages in the supply chain may effectively rule out the need for repacking or changing the shapes of logistics units. An article about the research is published in Preprints of the 19th World Congress The International Federation of Automatic Control.
