European standard published on general requirements for the safety of packaging machines
To help manufacturers to prove conformity to the essential requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, CEN has been mandated to develop a number of standards for the safety of packaging machines. ‘NEN-EN 415 Safety of packaging machines’ consists of 10 parts. Part 1 gives the terminology and classification. Part 2 to 8 are machine specific standards: Part 9 gives noise measurement methods.
In January 2014 NEN-EN 415-10 was published. This European standard gives general requirements for packaging machines which are defined in the scope of NEN-EN 415-1 or are in the scope of another relevant machine specific part of EN 415 (World Packaging Standardisation Newsletter, April 2014).
