EU Food Contact Materials Regulation amended
Regulation (EU) no. 10/2011 has been amended because new methods for analysing the specific migration of certain substances have become available. EFSA has also published a positive opinion on the use of a number of substances and additives that can be used for the production of plastics. Additionally, EFSA published an opinion about the risks of nickel (Ni) in foodstuffs and drinking water.
In annex IV of the regulation it is determined that in the declaration of compliance, the ratio between the surface that can come into contact with the foodstuffs and the corresponding volume can be stated. A change has been made to eliminate ambiguities (Newsletter Waar&Wet, 2 May 2017).
