EU Health Claims List came into force 14 December 2012

The list of health claims which are approved for use in the European Union came into force on Friday 14 December 2012. The list, which was adopted by the European Commission in May, is based on scientific advice provided by EFSA’s nutrition experts. Between 2008 and 2011 these experts assessed 3,000 food-related health claims to determine whether they were supported by sound scientific evidence (EFSA News Item, 14 December 2012).
