Dossier: IBCs for the transportation of dangerous goods

28 September 2016

Intermediate Bulk Containers or IBCs can be divided into two categories, those for the transportation of solids, and those for the transportation of liquids. Before the use of the IBCs as packaging for dangerous goods is allowed, the IBCs need to be checked if they fulfil the requirements of the various regulations.
This means that the IBCs have to be able to withstand a series of tests in order to have a unique UN certificate number assigned to them after which they can be marked with a UN code. Which tests the IBCs for dangerous goods have to pass is explained in the dossier: IBCs for the transportation of dangerous goods (Newsletter IBE-BVI, 2 September 2016).
