Consumers’ behavior concerning sustainable packaging

25 June 2018

Researchers at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in Romania studied the perception of the Romanian consumer regarding the role of eco-packaging in sustainable behaviour. They found that packaging preferences include paper, glass and cardboard and, to a lesser extent, plastic and wood.
The main reasons behind the purchase of products in organic packaging are the possibility of recycling and reuse, environmental protection and the feeling of being responsible towards the environment. The high costs of eco-packaging and lack of information on the benefits of their use are considered as reasons for not purchasing them. An article about the research is published in Sustainability.
