Finalist De Gouden Noot 2024 Ophthalmic plus bottle

Ophthalmic plus bottle by PACKSYS GmbH

Increasing age and the associated changes to the visual system make it necessary to use eye preparations for prevention or targeted treatment. Millions of people use eye drops every day as they get older. At the same time, we all know that using eye drop bottles (especially squeeze bottles) can be a real challenge. For older users with limited motor skills and weakening strength in their hands and fingers, this can no longer be done independently at a certain age.

For this problem PACKSYS has developed the Ophthalmic plus, an eye dropper bottle with special design for easier application (senior-friendly). At the same time, they kept the design as close to the standard as possible to make the system change-over during filling as simple as possible.

It is operated by pressing on the base of the bottle. This makes it much easier to use with a more relaxed body and hand positioning without having to use additional aids (e.g. drip aid). On top of that, the design includes a senior-friendly wing closure, which also makes it easier to open the bottle.

With the Ophthalmic plus mechanism, PACKSYS is able to reduce the finger force required to produce a drop by sixty per cent, while at the same time creating a more natural range of motion closer to the neutral zero position of the joints and thus generating real added value for patients – or should we just say: for us all?
