BUNCKER Pro Line Heavy by Berlin Packaging / Studio One Eleven

In the global energy transition more and more people are driving electric cars. Lithium batteries play an essential role in this global energy transition. We are currently in the phase where many batteries are entering the market but in the coming years more batteries will also exit the market.

Berlin Packaging offers a safe solution to a potential dangerous side effect of today’s lithium batteries, which is the risk of an unquenchable thermal runaway. BUNCKER® enables safe transport, storage and handling of (un)safe (EV) lithium batteries. The BUNCKER® can endure a thermal runaway, where toxic HF gasses are filtered and the outside temperature doesn’t exceed 100 °C, while it’s 1200 °C inside for multiple hours. The sturdy pack is equipped with valves to release pressure and cool off smoke, preventing fire. A gasket and clamps seals the whole packaging.

Another characteristic of the pack is the bell jar. This allows working directly on the pallet base. In the process this is safer and faster, whereas the handling can be done by one person. Because of the protective material in the walls of the packaging, no additional inner packaging or other protective padding materials are needed either. In short, a complex product that can be easily operated when working with, storing and transporting lithium batteries.
