BE: Pilot projects PMD-collection extended for one year

26 January 2017

On 1 January 2016, pilot projects were started in 3 municipalities in Flanders and 3 municipalities in the Walloon provinces in Belgium. In these municipalities the collection of PMD (plastic bottles and flasks, metal packaging, and beverage cartons) is being expanded with rigid plastic packaging (trays, dishes, and jars) and flexible plastics (films and bags). The results of the pilot projects will be presented by the end of 2017 and will be evaluated in 2018. General application of these principles is not expected before 2019 and will be discussed with all parties involved. Consequently, the collection of tomorrow’s waste is being prepared today (Press Release Fost Plus, 15 December 2016).
